Fret Not About Over-Inquiring
Asking great questions hits the apogee among immeasurable requisites needed in leadership. Fundamentals begin with integrity . . . the right purpose, attitude, people around you, and dedication to mission entrusted in you.
Inquiring clarifies. Inquiring helps avoid confusion, misunderstanding. Asking great questions probes intensely into whatever issue confronts you.
As we consider past, present and future leaders we evaluate who most impressed us, who now is earning our respect, and who might definitely merit positive attention subsequently (yep, always placing value on Foreseeability).
We claim no particular secret or mysterious methodology when we 1) list our dozen preferences in grading leaders, and 2) offer our best opinions regarding those yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Admittedly, we incorporate experiences with clients as well as with other individuals in various leadership positions we have been fortunate to know since our founding in 1968.
Some won’t have advantages from widespread identity, but they deserve mention — perhaps in a special category?
One man on our list-of-the-very-best is Lee Iacocca. Amid multiple requests for his leadership, Lee succeeded constantly against enormous odds. He did so with pure honesty and openness.
Naming a lady is equally as easy – former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher. Brilliant, she led with dignity, courage, and insightfulness.
Like Mr. Iacocca’s, Lady Thatcher’s profound love and respect for the United States remains a distinct tribute.
